Dave coppinger • Founder & President
Founder, chief cook and bottle washer. Dave has been a fixture in the fireplace industry since starting Taproot in 1977. He has served on numerous industry committees, exam writing teams and was named National Gas Retailer of the Year in 1996 by the American Gas Association. In his “spare time” he is active in his local Scout troop, enjoys tandem cycling with his wife Linda and mastering the art of home brewing.
Nan Moore
Nan has been involved in the retail hearth industry for over thirty years. She has been NFI certified in wood and gas and has recently earned her Hearth Design Specialist certification. Nan is the air traffic controller for Taproot and is the “go to” person when you need an answer about a product or service. She is super cook, an avid hiker and enjoys an occasional beach weekend with her extended family.
Craig Morehead
Craig has spent years in the retail industry and came to Taproot over thirty years ago. He has a wealth of experience and knowledge in the hearth and patio trade and is responsible for the many attractive displays and merchandising in our showroom. He is an avid reader and is known to always have an interesting story to share, tucked into his back pocket.
Sean Morehead
Yup… Craig’s son. Sean is a man of many talents, the ultimate jack of all trades. You’ll find him in the showroom working with customers answering technical questions, unloading trucks, building and delivering grills and setting up outdoor furniture. He is a master re-slinger of patio furniture and rescuer of the occasional raccoon which gets stuck in our dumpster.
Scott Smith
Scott is Taproot’s lead tech. He has over fifteen years’ experience installing, servicing and repairing hearth products. He has been gas certified by the NFI and has more experience than anyone working on the many different gas fireplaces installed the tidewater area. He is an avid football fan, an outstanding cook and enjoys restoring older gas grills, barbequing in the backyard and spending time with his family.
